Susan Anderson is an internationally recognized photographer, whose fine art work has been exhibited in museums and galleries around the world, including The Annenberg Space for Photography, The Norton Museum of Art, Museum of Photographic Arts, and Casino Luxembourg. Anderson has had solo exhibitions in Los Angeles, Paris and Amsterdam. Her work is found in numerous museum and private collections, including LACMA and the Gemeete[museum]Helmond, in Holland. Anderson is represented by TORCH Gallery in Amsterdam and acte2galerie in Paris.
Her celebrated fine art photography book, High Glitz, The Extravagant World of Child Beauty Pageants, focused on the extreme beauty subculture of child pageants across the USA. It was published by powerHouse Books in 2009. She is currently developing a new series of fine art photographs, with the working title, Überblonde.
Her editorial fashion and conceptual portrait work has been published in a variety of magazines, such as Playboy, Glamour, Los Angeles and TIME. She is the author of several pop-culture photography books, including Porn For Women and Porn For New Moms, which were immediate bestsellers. Her humorous “how-to” book, Hands On, was published in 2014 by Running Press, a division of Perseus Books.
Anderson has Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Art Institute of Chicago, where she studied experimental filmmaking and photography. After graduating, Anderson worked in film production as set decorator and art director in the motion picture industry, before launching her commercial photography business in 1998. She relocated to Los Angeles in 2001, where she currently lives and works.
